Hilary Kennedy

Interior Designer

Hilary Smith Kennedy’s path to becoming an interior designer began on an antique buying trip to England with her father, Dixon Smith Interiors owner Jim Smith. She realized that she really did love interior design, and wanted to stay in the family business and pursue it as a career. Growing up in a family that cherished fine antiques, Hilary loves to gracefully incorporate beautiful antiques where she can in her work - whether they’re heirloom pieces owned by a client or pieces sourced by Dixon Smith Interiors. She loves to work with color palettes inspired by nature, and believes that adding diverse textures adds depth and interest to any space.

Hilary’s favorite spaces to design in a home are the living room and master bedroom. The living room establishes a public tone for the entire house and can communicate a client’s personality to visitors immediately. The master bedroom is important for the opportunity it gives a client to establish a true sanctuary from the stress and worry of everyday life.

The final reveal is Hilary’s favorite part of any design project. After bringing to life a one-of-a-kind space for a client, watching the client’s reaction to the final product brings meaning and satisfaction to her work.
