Yvette deLaunay Owens is a native of Alexandria, La. Yvette began painting while studying Clothing, Textiles, and Design at the University of Alabama. She often painted on canvases to show representations of her textile designs. These designs eventually morphed in to abstract paintings after a teacher recognized the similarities between her textile designs and modern abstract artwork. Yvette successfully held art sales in private homes until she was signed to her first gallery in 2004. She can best be described as a non-figurative abstractionist. Her work has evolved greatly over the years and continues to undergo numerous transformations. She is currently represented by Dixon Smith Interiors. Her artwork can be found in private collections throughout the United States and London.
